The mission of Metalsmith magazine is to document, analyze and promote excellence in jewelry and metalsmithing.
Towards this goal, and to produce a significant document of the field, editorial content emphasizes contemporary activities and ideas, and supportive content includes relevant historical work and critical issues.
Each issue offers an array of engaging editorial content, including provocative columns, insightful criticism, artist profiles, exhibition and book reviews, studio visits with established and emerging metalsmiths, as well as commissions both public and private.
Now in its third decade, Metalsmith has been published continuously since 1980. Originating as a newsletter titled Golddust, the magazine evolved into Goldsmith’s Journal and then into its current format. Metalsmith is now widely considered to be the journal of record for jewelry and metal arts worldwide
